Craig was invited by Gavin Dispain of DEH to speak at the Web Standards Group in Canberra. Also presenting was Shane Morris, user experience evangelist for Microsoft. Presenting after Shane was a hard act to follow, but the group responded well to the idea of putting a lot of science into the process of user interface design. The presentation went over time and only a few people had to leave – we took this as a good sign that the industry is looking for more rigour and defensibility in the design process.
